According to MNI, Boise is Idaho’s largest city based on number of manufacturing jobs, with 27,856 workers.

Food processing and industrial machinery ranks as the largest manufacturing sectors in the state, based on number of jobs, each encompassing 21% of Idaho’s manufacturing workers. Producing imaging and printing supplies, Hewlett Packer, Inc. occupies a major 200,000 square-foot plant in Boise. Employing 4,700 workers, HP, Inc. is Idaho’s second-largest industrial employer. Headquartered in Palo Alto, California, HP was founded in 1939 in a one-car garage, after winning its first contract in 1938 to provide test and measurement instruments for Walt Disney’s production of Fantasia.

Established in 1985, Melaleuca, Inc. is a wellness company, producing vitamins, skin care products and household cleaners. This location serves as the company’s corporate headquarters and employs 1,500.

Clearwater Paper Corporation is a major producer of paperboard and pulp located in Lewiston. The company employs 1,370 at its Lewiston location and is headquartered in Spokane, Washington. This is the largest of two Clearwater paper locations in Lewiston.
