The expansion will feature a state-of-the-art R&D center in Kendall Square, Cambridge, Massachusetts, a next-generation biologics manufacturing facility in Maryland, and cell therapy manufacturing capacities on both coasts. Pascal Soriot, Chief Executive Officer, stated, “Our multibillion-dollar investment reflects the attractiveness of the business environment together with the quality of talent and innovation capabilities here in the United States.” This initiative is part of AstraZeneca’s strategy to achieve $80 billion in total revenue by 2030.
STULZ USA has announced the opening of its third U.S. manufacturing facility in Denton County, Texas, set to commence operations in 2025. The new facility will add over 200,000 square feet of production capacity, focusing on precision cooling technology for mission-critical applications, including data centers. This expansion is expected to create more than 200 jobs, significantly boosting the local economy. "Our decision to expand into Denton County is driven by our mission to deliver industry leading data center cooling solutions at scale while moving closer to our customers," said Brian Hatmaker, President, STULZ USA. "Our new manufacturing facility in Denton County is part of our broader commitment to match US production capacity with strong growth and future data center demand. As we expand our US capabilities in Frederick, Maryland and Dayton, Tennessee we have identified Denton, Texas as an ideal manufacturing location due to the strategic location and available workforce.” The new facility will complement STULZ’s existing operations in Frederick, Maryland, and Dayton, Tennessee.
The J.M. Smucker Co. has inaugurated its latest Uncrustables manufacturing facility in McCalla, Alabama. This new facility spans 900,000 square feet and is expected to create 750 jobs, enhancing the local economy. The plant will focus on producing the popular Uncrustables sandwiches, catering to the growing demand for convenient, high-quality food products. "The opening of our new facility in McCalla furthers our commitment to invest in our strategy to build leading brands in attractive categories," said Mark Smucker. "We have grown Uncrustables from a $12 million brand to one delivering approximately $800 million in annual net sales last fiscal year. Rolls-Royce has announced the expansion of its MTU power generation facility in Mankato, Minnesota. This expansion represents a significant investment of $13.9 million and is expected to create 20 new jobs. The facility expansion, which spans 28,000 square feet, will focus on the production of MTU Onsite Energy generator sets. “Our MTU plant in Mankato has played a decisive role in our encouraging growth in the Americas. We intend to continue on this successful course by working hard to emerge from the crisis stronger than before. More consistently than before, we are pursuing our strategy of evolving from an engine manufacturer to a provider of sustainable solutions," said Andreas Schell, CEO of Rolls-Royce Power Systems.
Girtz Industries has commenced construction on a new 13,000-square-foot facility in White County, Indiana ,driven by the rising demand for backup and emergency power generators. This demand surge is fueled by rapid data center expansion in Indiana and across the U.S.
Founded in 1963 on the Girtz family farm, Girtz Industries has grown under David Girtz’s leadership into a precision metal fabrication company specializing in power generation solutions for leading global generator OEMs. The groundbreaking ceremony included Girtz, his wife Beth, and their grandson, alongside Plant Manager Tyson Mellon and Engineering Manager Brent Beissler. The expansion, scheduled for completion in Spring 2025, is expected to boost Girtz Industries' current workforce of 137.
BEDGEAR has announced the grand opening of its new state-of-the-art manufacturing and distribution facility, “The Peak,” in Salt Lake City. This strategic move aims to enhance delivery times, operational efficiency, and customer service levels, particularly for the Western United States and Canada. Sofidel will invest $200 million to expand its manufacturing operations in Duluth, Minnesota, supported by $5 million in state funding. This expansion will create at least 160 new jobs, tripling the company’s current workforce. The new integrated production plant will span nearly 600,000 square feet and will produce paper towels, bath tissues, and napkins. Simone Giacomelli, Integration Manager at Sofidel, stated, “This expansion is a testament to our long-term commitment to growth and innovation in the North American market. In Duluth, we found a favorable operating environment, with a skilled and dedicated workforce, and strong partnerships with local institutions and the community.”
Voortman Steel Machinery has broken ground on its new facility in Monee, Illinois. This new facility will span 100,000 square feet and will focus on the production of advanced steel processing machinery. The expansion is expected to create numerous job opportunities in the region.
Marsh Furniture Co. has broken ground on a $10 million expansion of its High Point, North Carolina facility. The city has approved plans for a 48,147-square-foot building addition on the south side of its existing plant at 1001 S. Centennial St.
Hormel Foods Corp.’s Jennie-O Turkey Store division has broken ground on a $30 million expansion project at its Willmar, Minnesota processing facility. The project will add 20,000 square feet to the plant, aiming to transform and modernize operations, streamline processes, and improve operational capabilities for its employees. Matt Schrupp, Vice President of Supply Chain for Jennie-O, stated, “This is a significant project for the Willmar plant and will be a tremendous improvement in our production processes.” The expansion is expected to be completed in late 2025 or early 2026.
FC Industries, Inc. has inaugurated a new 40,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Harrison Township, Dayton. This expansion will house production for MC Coating and BarSplice Products, subsidiaries of FC Industries, enhancing the company’s capacity to meet growing customer demand for rebar products and epoxy coating services.
Montana Knife Company has broken ground on an $18 million expansion of its Missoula facility. The new 50,000-square-foot facility will enhance the company’s production capabilities for its renowned handcrafted knives, which cater to outdoor enthusiasts, hunters, and collectors. This expansion is expected to create 100 new jobs, significantly boosting the local economy. Josh Smith, Co-Founder and Master Bladesmith, stated, “We couldn’t be prouder to call this place home and start to build our 50,000-square-foot manufacturing facility. RoyOMartin has celebrated the grand opening of the expanded Corrigan OSB manufacturing facility in Texas, now the largest of its kind in North America. The expansion significantly increases the mill’s size and production capacity by approximately 43% annually and provides a total of 300 jobs at the mill. Texas Governor Greg Abbott, who attended the ceremony, stated, “Corrigan OSB’s expanded manufacturing facility will provide needed, high-quality building materials to Texas’ growing economy. Thanks to our manufacturing sector, ‘Made in Texas’ has never been a bigger brand.”
Empire State Development (ESD) has celebrated the grand opening of Pfisterer’s new energy infrastructure manufacturing facility in Rochester, New York. The 100,000-square-foot facility will enhance the company’s production capabilities and includes a state-of-the-art training center. Pfisterer has committed to creating up to 50 new jobs in the Finger Lakes Region.
