JetZero broke ground on June 15 on its first manufacturing and final assembly campus, an 8 million-square-foot factory on more than 600 acres at Piedmont Triad International Airport in Greensboro, North Carolina. The $4.7 billion project, the largest economic development commitment in North Carolina history based on job creation, is expected to generate more than 14,500 high-wage aerospace manufacturing positions over the next decade, with an average wage of more than $89,000. The facility will produce JetZero’s Z4, an all-wing commercial aircraft designed for 50 percent greater fuel efficiency than conventional tube-and-wing aircraft, with production of up to 20 aircraft per month once fully ramped. The company is incorporating AI-native and digital twin manufacturing platforms developed in collaboration with Siemens and Deloitte.

Lockheed Martin Opens Next Generation Interceptor Facility In Courtland, Alabama
Lockheed Martin inaugurated an 88,000-square-foot, purpose-built Missile Assembly Building 5 in Courtland, Alabama on June 1, designed to produce the Next Generation Interceptor for the Missile Defense Agency as part of the nation’s layered homeland defense architecture. The facility, backed by Lockheed Martin’s broader $250 million investment in North Alabama, consolidates the company’s most sophisticated digital manufacturing tools, adopts a digital twin methodology that reduces production risk from design through sustainment, and is designed to scale rapidly to meet growing Pentagon demand. The opening forms part of the company’s $9 billion-plus investment through 2030 to scale munitions production across more than 20 U.S. facilities.

Northrop Grumman Opens New Spacecraft Components Manufacturing Facility In Hanover, Maryland
Northrop Grumman opened a new 130,000-square-foot advanced manufacturing facility in Hanover, Maryland, representing a $20 million investment and forming part of more than $115 million the company has invested in Maryland’s manufacturing sector over the past two years. The facility is purpose-built to manufacture various spacecraft components critical to mission success and integrates design and production under one roof to improve workflow and efficiency. Northrop Grumman employs more than 14,000 people across Maryland.

Janicki Industries Announces $800 Million Manufacturing Campus In Great Falls, Montana
Janicki Industries announced on June 2 the selection of Great Falls, Montana as the site of its next manufacturing campus, a $800 million investment that will add 2 million square feet of production space over the next decade. The project, located within the AgriTech Park, is expected to create 1,000 high-quality jobs within the first five years, with total employment exceeding 2,000 once campus construction is complete. Janicki serves the aerospace, defense, and space industries through advanced composites, precision machining, and metal fabrication, and currently operates more than 1 million square feet across Washington and Utah. Construction is expected to begin in July 2026, with the first phase of the campus anticipated to open by the end of 2027.

New Mexico and the City of Albuquerque announced on June 22 a combined investment of more than $1.5 million in incentives to support BlackVe Inc., a defense and space technology company, in expanding its Albuquerque headquarters and scaling a 50,000-square-foot satellite manufacturing facility. The project is projected to create 152 high-paying jobs over the next ten years and is projected to generate more than $228 million in total economic impact for the state. Founded in January 2024, BlackVe designs and manufactures multi-mission spacecraft using advanced production technologies intended to accelerate satellite development and operations. BlackVe, in a company statement, said, “This partnership is not just about building advanced spacecraft; it is about investing in the local workforce, creating high-quality STEM careers for New Mexicans and inspiring the next generation of home-grown innovators to reach for the stars.”

Coherent Announces CHIPS Act Expansion Of InP Semiconductor Facility In Sherman, Texas
Coherent Corp. announced on June 16 that it has signed a Letter of Intent to receive up to $50 million in direct CHIPS and Science Act funding from the U.S. Department of Commerce to expand its 6-inch Indium Phosphide semiconductor manufacturing facility in Sherman, Texas. The investment will support growing demand for optical networking technologies that power AI datacenters and reinforce Coherent’s partnership with NVIDIA. At project completion, the Sherman site is expected to create more than 1,000 jobs, including more than 550 direct advanced manufacturing, engineering, and technical roles. The expansion will double manufacturing production space and quadruple wafer production capacity.

Governor Greg Abbott announced on June 4 that the Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund has extended an $11.6 million grant to Soulbrain RASA TX LLC for a new U.S. manufacturing facility and U.S. headquarters in Taylor. The facility, which represents more than $120 million in capital investment and is expected to create 20 high-skilled jobs in its initial phase, will produce high-purity phosphoric acid used in advanced semiconductor fabrication.
The Taylor location will supply critical materials to semiconductor manufacturers in the region, including Samsung, as part of a broader effort to build a domestic semiconductor supply chain. Röhm Reaches Full-Scale Operation At $1.6 Billion Bay City MMA Plant In Texas
Röhm celebrated the official opening of its Bay City, Texas methyl methacrylate plant on June 5, marking the first time the company’s proprietary LiMA technology has operated at full industrial scale anywhere in the world. The facility is also the first C2-based MMA production plant in North America, strengthening regional supply chains and domestic manufacturing capacity for a chemical building block used in automotive, construction, electronics, and medical applications. The Bay City facility has an annual production capacity of 250,000 metric tons of MMA and employs approximately 90 people. The project was supported by approximately $1.6 billion in investment from Advent International.

U.S. Steel announced on June 23 a $475 million investment to install a new quench and tempering line at its Fairfield Tubular Operations in Fairfield, Alabama, targeting growing demand for oil country tubular goods from major U.S. energy basins including the Permian, Eagle Ford, Haynesville, and Appalachia. The new Q&T line will add internal heat-treatment capacity for tubular products, remove a critical production bottleneck, improve product traceability from casting through finishing, and position the company for growing demand in the premium OCTG market. The facility is expected to reach full production by Q2 2029.

Axjo Group officially launched production at its new 160,600-square-foot manufacturing facility in Haltom City, Texas on June 18, its second U.S. production location alongside its existing campus in Conover, North Carolina. The new facility, located just outside Fort Worth, significantly expands Axjo’s North American manufacturing capacity and introduces production of larger cable reels serving customers in the energy, cable, and industrial manufacturing sectors.

USA Rare Earth Announces $1.2 Billion Rare Earth Magnet Factory In Blacksburg, South Carolina
USA Rare Earth announced on June 2 the selection of Cherokee County, South Carolina as the site of a new magnet manufacturing and refined metals operation in Blacksburg. The $1.2 billion facility, to be located in the Bailey Industrial Park, is expected to create approximately 490 high-skill, high-wage manufacturing jobs and produce 6,400 metric tons per year of sintered neodymium-iron-boron permanent magnets along with 5,000 metric tons of strip-cast metal and alloy. Engineering and equipment procurement are underway, with site work expected to begin in the coming months and full commissioning targeted for 2028. The project is supported by up to $1.6 billion in CHIPS Act funding. Barbara Humpton, CEO of USA Rare Earth, said,

SCHOTT Pharma Inaugurates Expanded Vial Production Facility In Lebanon, Pennsylvania
SCHOTT Pharma inaugurated new production lines for standard and sterile ready-to-use glass vials at its Lebanon, Pennsylvania manufacturing facility on June 3, in a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Governor Josh Shapiro. The more than $60 million investment, largely funded by the U.S. Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority, more than triples SCHOTT’s vial manufacturing capacity in the United States and adds new production lines designed to support the domestic pharmaceutical packaging supply chain for biologics, vaccines, and injectable therapies. The Lebanon site is one of only two SCHOTT Pharma locations worldwide capable of manufacturing EVERIC pure vials.

Air Products Membrane Solutions Opens $70 Million Expanded Manufacturing Center In Maryland Heights, Missouri
Air Products Membrane Solutions held a ribbon-cutting celebration on June 3 for the new $70 million expansion of its Missouri Manufacturing and Logistics Center in Maryland Heights, near St. Louis, the company’s largest ever investment in a single location. The expansion is driven by growing product demand in biogas and hydrogen recovery applications as well as customer needs for nitrogen in aerospace and marine industries. Products manufactured at the expanded facility include the PRISM GreenSep membrane separator for bio-LNG production and the PRISM N2Sep membrane separator for nitrogen separation. The company has completed more than 70 hires to support the new facility, bringing total employment at the site to more than 250.

The Campbell’s Company celebrated the ribbon cutting of its expanded aseptic manufacturing facility in Maxton, North Carolina on June 11, completing a $150 million investment that adds 88,000 square feet of production space and increases soup and broth production capacity by approximately 20 percent. The expansion added two advanced aseptic filling and packaging lines, new quality labs, expanded ingredient storage, and an employee welfare area and training center. The project creates more than 100 new jobs in Robeson County and builds on more than 45 years of Campbell’s presence at the Maxton site.
